1st Ride On My New To Me KTM 690

After a 10 hour round trip on Monday I'm now the proud owner of a 2009 KTM 690 Enduro R and took it for a nice get to know each other ride on Tuesday.

First up was a nice stretch of road that actually runs through a creek bed for a couple miles with some pretty deep gravel in spots.

After the creek run a few miles of county gravel and paved roads brought me to a nice quad trail. This hill is not real steep but the ruts are very deep and the line is difficult to stay on at the top. The 690 just tractored right up.

I've posted a picture of every dual-sport bike I've owned from this over look of local lake and the Mississippi River in the background so the new girl deserves one too.

More forest service trails up on a high ridge.

After several miles on a levee road I cut toward the river and came out on a huge sandbar. The 690 rocks in the deep sand. A near record low Mississippi River in the background.

One last high speed run before crossing the bridge that you can see directly over the bike in the distance and back home.

I think we had a pretty good first date and will go out again soon to get to know each other even better

Weight without fuel, approx. 138.5 kg (305.3 lb.) + gas(6.1 gallons x3.2 tank)=19.52lbs SUM: 324.82
Performance 49 kW (66 hp)

This bike sounds like a BEAST!! 66hp stock around the same weight as the DRZ! Woah... I'm jealous of it haha

Congrats on the new ride. I've really been looking hard a couple new bikes, either a pair of 690's or a 500 exc and 350 exc for the wife and I to ride when not on the adventure bikes.

Any feedback on how this bike compares to your past DS bikes? I'm expecting it's heads and tails above most DS bikes, but give us the skinny!
