Cool pics of the 950 Adventure's evil twin
I posted a thread on the Road Warrior forum on this bike bit ago, but since the 950 SM is really little more than a 950 Adventure with a smaller tank, slightly tighter and shorter suspension, and 17" wheels, I thought you might be interested too, especially those of you who use the 950 Adventure as a play bike.
The thread is here. To keep from having this thrown out of here for lack of dirt content Can't wait for this bad boy to make its appearance. Supposed to be this coming Spring (although I've heard a rumor or two that it could actually be as early as this Fall.) Cheers.

That would make sense. I am building up calluses on my rear to prepare for this bike. Must be ready.

Incidentally, can you explain the reason for using a high front fend on a bike that will be onroad 99% of the time and using a low front fender for a bike that is supposed to be much more off road oriented? I wonder if you can put an Adventure front fender on this and what it would look like? And will the front fender from the SM fit the Adventure?

I have no idea why KTM chose to put a low front fender on the 950 Adventure. Makes no sense to me (unless they assumed that the bike would be used 95% of the time on the street and not see much, if any, truly ugly off road action, which we know is not the case.) As far as the 950 SM, I'm sure it's just for looks. All supermoto bikes have short but high front fenders. Kinda like a vestigial tail, revealing their dirtly origins. They do put big holes in the back end of the fender to improve air flow to the radiator and the front is short, so it doesn't catch too much wind and make the bike unstable at speed. I bet it isn't too spectacular at keeping water off of the front of the bike. But who is going to ride this thing in the rain anyway? The whole reason to have this bike is to be bad on twisty back roads and look cool doing it. I think they have that covered.

I've heard that before KTM starts sending these out all the dealers have to have the special "license shredding" machine installed at the door so the new owners can just get it over with right then and there.
I know if I owned one I'd be permanently "pulled over" for suspicious behavior!

I believe the 05 exc lineup is sporting that look. but I don't want to do a search and find out, so I'll give my best B.S. with a slight memory flash.

Hmmm, imagine having both of these in the garage? A lucky few no doubt will manage to do just that.
