Got back Sunday late afternoon. Weather was perfect, got little chilly at night but climbed to high 70's or low 80's every day. No rain!

VStrom 1K ran perfectly and made the 500 mile trip each way without any fuss. Ran like a clock.

Daytona was packed as usual during Bike Week. Speedway racing was excellent. Main Street was well just as expected.

Met up with lot of riders including ADVriders. Here are few photos with my commentaries.

I noticed many more chicks riding bikes now versus riding on the pillion.
I likey!

Of course, Main St., was open all night with many places to hit the well.

Of course, Main St., also attracts some strange riders?

WTF?

He called this a Redneck Redo Bike

Racing was Excellente!

HD Twins Series:

The announcer said that bikes were hitting the traps at 206mph. Too fast for my old camera.

Geico Camp Site: No Problemo.

Later,

Jon

I have a feeling we crossed paths at some time. I was in the Geico campground and walked past the store area in your last photo a few times while watching the race. I started a thread in Day Trippin with a few photos. I completely agree with you though, the weather was great and the cool temps at night I liked for sleeping.

We probably walked right by each other! I saw your thread and great writeup. I had my camera in a wrong setting but WTF.

I did meet many new faces while camping out as we all walked around shooting the bull and sharing the festivities. We are all planning to meet in the same camp area next year!

Nice pics! My co worker works the pits for and with Anthony FANIA. I am quite appalled by the lack of helmets ad safety gear tho.

This was my 8th trip down since '95. We usually camp on the outskirts of Daytona Beach at one of the many campgrounds.

I take the back way down via US Rt 301 and other backroads around Starke and Palatka. There's scarcely any traffic:

Ginormous front rims seem to be the hot new thing...I wonder how they steer? (especially with a slammed rear? and a turbo?)

There were a few bad-asses:

And, masks have become the new standard for some riders:

There were some nice cars:

Saturday afternoon on Main Street was busy...but not as busy as I've ever seen it.

As expected, there were some bikes that were over the top (two drive chains!):

Some folks refuse to give it up!

I wonder if V8 motorcycles will go the way of the custom chopper?

Not all of the neat machines were on motorcycles:

There were no shortage of ladies...in this case, they were advertising for the tattoo shop in the background:

The rest of the album here.

Jon

Any other inmate planning to attend Daytona BW 2014? Rather than starting a new thread, I will just continue the old thread. I am still in the midst of installing an Audiovox Cruise Control on my Vee but hopefully will be complete with the project by end of this week and can start on other things like changing the oil and filter to get ready for 2014 ride down to Daytona BW from Charlotte.

No definite plans yet other than I will plan to camp at the Speedway like other years.

I will be there. We roll in on the 10th and stay till Saturday. Flat track Thursday is about the only constant in our yearly schedule. Each day we tend to pick a place to go. Some go demo bikes they will never buy. Some ride the loop. Some do the Cabbage Patch for some fat chick coleslaw wrestling.

I am still trying to decide if I want to go down early to see the Supercross which kicks off the Daytona Bike Week racing on March 8 or ride in later that week to see the road races.

Great racing either way and yes, there are the so called "riders" that trailer their bike down and did not even know that there was racing all week at the speedway.

Actually, if you time the ride down to Daytona right, as you merge onto I-95S, you will see more trailers than ever in your lifetime!

I hear you. I do about the same- Normally come in too late to watch Supercross since they changed the venue. Flat Track, Few Road Races, Alligator Enduro. I love just camping out at the speedway. Nothing like waking up to a big twin boring down the oval banks at full speed.

I also try to test ride all the new bikes if I signup for it early enough.

I have not been able to find the full racing schedule just yet. The Daytona BW kicks off at the Speedway from 03/07 to 03/15.

http://www.daytonainternationalspeed...-200-Week.aspx

As usual, the Geico primitive camping is free with that day admission tix.

I have not yet found the full Daytona Bike Week race schedule other than from AMA. Less than month and half prior to departure. Anyone else riding down?
