Tagging a WR in Oklahoma
Hey this is a question for the Okies out there, I bought a used WR450F from K&N Yamaha in Tulsa, (which was not tagged), and I just got the title in the mail, can I just take it to the Tag agency and pay my money & get my tag?

Does the bike have a full 17 digit VIN? Does it have DOT required stuff: horn, turn signals, brake light, mirrors?
If you answered yes to all of the above, then yes it can be tagged. You can call the local tag office and give them the VIN and they can verify it real easy.

Update
Well,,
I do have a 17 digit VIN, but.... Since the previous owner did not tag the bike & registered it as an Off Road vehicle, I need to send in a "Body Change Affidavit" and an "Application for Replacement of Title for Vehicle" I had my Insurance verification with me, but there were no questions about if the bike actually had the required equipment, (Street legal kit), so, I will fill out my forms, sent them in, and see what happens next. ![]()

Guess that confirms it. Pretty damn easy to plate a dirt bike in OK.

I have done it with 2 different bikes ,XR 600 and a KTM 525. But they were both new. Dealers gave me an "application for title". IIRC I had to sign an affidavit stating that it had all the street legal equipment. |

It's really easy here in OK. I bought a used XR650R in MO that had been street tagged. The only "street" equipment on it was a bicycle speedo, a mirror, headlamp and tailight. No brake light or horn. Pay the man.
I bought a Baja Designs dual sport kit for the XRR for better lighting. A firefighter I know asked to borrow my paperwork from BD so he could use it to tag his dirtbike. Done and done. Pay the man. It really is simple here compared to the headaches elsewhere. ![]() -Joe

Update
Ok, I know you guys are NOT going to belive this,,,, but the Tag Agency gave me the wrong information!! The OK DMV no longer uses the "Body Change Form" I got a call from the OKC office, they told me to go back to the Tag Office, get the title changed over to my name, (with a penalty because now 30 days has passed) and once I get the new title in my hand, to write up the exact same information that is on the Body Change form, which I paid to have notarized, and go pay to get the statement notarized, and sent that in with the new title. I asked if they could just accept the notarized form, and maybe just mark out "Body Change Form" at the top, and take that, but noooo!! it has to be a "statement". I work for a federal agency myself, so I understand you have to follow the regulations, but damn!

I wrote on the "Body Change Affiadavit" that I installed a Dual Sport kit, and listed the contents, the Lady on the phone from the DMV said it was just fine, I just needed to duplicate it, have it notarized, and send it in with my new title, and a copy of my recipt for the kit. She did not mention a fee.

They made me show them a receipt and the parts list with the necessary parts to make it street legal. Though I took the bike with me, they didn't care about looking at it, just the list and the receipt.
