Revisit NZ Sept 2013
Hi all,
Did a tour of the South Island by motorhome in May/June 2010 and loved the place, you people have one of the most beautiful places on earth to play in. Look like coming back to to do the North Island and then over to Picton and into Christchurch, in Sept 2013. This is not bike related, but what would you suggest would be high on a tourists list of places to see at that time of the year, especiallly in the North? Also, I was wondering how I would go about buying a prepaid phone/data package over there, and what might be the best provider for that sort of thing? I picked up a Vodafone SIM last time and that worked okay. Anyway, can't wait to get back there, any help would be appreciated - maybe I can return the favour one day .cheers

Good to hear you had a great time here last time and hope you enjoy the North just as much. In the FAQ section there is a few route suggestions for bikes: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...6#post16545486 But I guess you're more looking for destinations than the hardest way to get between them... ![]() A couple of things you could add to help us with reccomendtions. 1. You don't say how long you have. 1 week? 1 month? 2. What kind of things do you like? Cities? wilderness? Touristy stuff? Nature?

Hi Peet,
A great thread you started there and I found it after posting this one. A very helpful resource indeed and I saw Clint's bike route suggestions too ........wished I was taking one. We should be there for three weeks starting at Auckland and want to be in Wellington two weeks in, then across to Picton and revisit some of the wine areas between there and Christchurch, over to Akaroa and then back to Christchurch to fly home. The motor homes are a really easy and comfortable way tro see your country, with everything being so close, but we like food, wine and scenery. I enjoyed the mussel pies and the abundance of seafood chowder around the South Island.... Loved it. Thanks for your interest.

I've browsed through the tourist brochures, read a few ride reports on here and google searches but I'm going to linger on your RR. I'm slowly making my way through it but that is exactly what I was looking for. thanks again.

![]() Beautiful country NZ, I'm just about the retire but I will see a lot more of it before I give up travelling......a bike trip is high on the bucket list too!! It certainly is a contrast to the Flinders Ranges here in SA and I'm there in April with over 100 riders at the Flinders Ranges Classic (see Aust section) in dust, rocks and at night, flowing beer.
