Where does this heat shield go?
![]() 2010 990R I found it in my skid plate. The pen is included to give it a size reference. I'm trying to get 2 990Rs and a Super Enduro prepped for a Baja trip- basically, pulling the tanks and stuff off, checking connections, changing oil- all the stuff you'd normally do for a couple thousand mile trip in Mex. Thanks for any help.

It looks like the piece that goes in the cut out of the tank.
The exhaust curls between the engine and the tank from the the front cylinder. You will have to pull your right hand tank to check. |

You can use the foil covered foam insulation tape from Home Depot to craft a replacement, if necessary.

Exhaust - Carbon cover
Hi, sure if this is the right place to post my question, but it is heat insulation/cover related...
I have damaged (burned) the bottom part of my rally pants that covers my boot on the exhaust cover that sits above the clutch/engine pod (above the rear brake pedal) on the right of the bike. Does anybody know if there is any additional protection e.g. additional carbon cover that can go on top of the existing cover? Thanks for the help. |
