FYI; not to be a downer, but Dictum Ridge does not have an outlet to US 33. You have to enter Dictum Ridge via Rocky Run Trailhead via Long Run Rd. Or you can run Second Mtn. Road down, Rocky Run ATV trail across then back up Dictum, or just go down Dictum from the trailhead.

3 years ago you were able to enter Dictum via US33, but there's a small section from US33 to Dictum that is privately owned, plus there is now a gate above stair-steps..

GUNS, GUNS, GUNS........................

Everybody seems to be talking about guns these days so let me add my .02 cents worth. We spent a couple pages of this thread talking about bringing guns and shooting guns in May. I know this isn't everybody's cup of tea, but it is mine. The idea of a bunch of us showing up with some of our favorites, riding to the ranges we're fortunate enough to be so close to and firing away makes me happy.

What worries me is some of our friends that share our passion of riding, camping, and enjoying too many cold ones around a fire may not feel comfortable here for fear of one of us knuckleheads not being able to keep our passions of drinking and firearms separate.

Most gun owners I know are responsible and don't need me to tell them how to behave while in the possession of a firearm. But I know how we get late at night(first hand) and no way can a gun be a good thing in that situation.

What I'm asking is if you do bring a gun keep it secure around the camp and wait til we get to the range to show that bad boy off. If over a cup of coffee in the morning you want to take someone over to your tent for some show and tell I don't think that's unreasonable, but how about once we get back from riding before grabbing that first beer we put the guns away? I have a safe available for anyone that needs it.

I don't want to make more of an issue about this than it needs to be and I don't want to discourage anyone that want to bring a gun to carry to the range, but I also would hate to hear someone didn't come this year because they feared it had turned into a dangerous situation.

This is the best bunch of people I've ever been associated with and I know we all respect each other and will not tolerate any reckless behavior so hopefully this post was just a waste of time.

Hear, hear! Well said my friend.

While I won't be packing myself, I was brought up by a father who taught me to fish, trap, shoot a bow & arrow, and shoot firearms (target, skeet & trap, and hunting), so firearms do not bother me in the slightest. On the contrary, I wish my finances would allow me to acquire a couple, but alas I am not a rich man. Can't wait for spring!

The combo worked fine at the last RTB. Most of us know each other well enough to know nothing stupid will happen. I think.

I'm just kidding Kevin. You do bring up a very good point. No reason we can't have loads of fun and still be safe.
