I just purchased a new to me '12 Triple Black a few months ago. I am in North West NC if needed.

Good luck in your journey.

Yes, accounting for winter and resting breaks, I'm estimating 45 hours total.

Hello neighbor! I just bought a brand new R1200GS Triple Black this week and I am in San Clemente. Maybe meet up for a ride some time. Have a great, safe trip!

I'm also going to be installing quite a few farkles and other parts when I arrive in North Carolina. I'll be documenting the add-ons, updates, and farkleation of the bike with photos and comments here in this thread.

I'll also be doing a ride report complete with photos and video of the trip across the country.

Stay tuned...

Send me a pm with your info... I'll be back next week and we can talk about break-in rides around the area...

I have been using the extra time in the hotel to further organize my stuff, figure out what I forgot (so far, 2 things - one of which is pretty important), and also the assembly of those things I can prior to arriving at the bike tomorrow morning.

First, the Fastway Adventure Footpegs in black. I put the traction studs into the footpeg.

Next, I assembles the Locking Garmin Zumo 660/665 GPS mount V2. I installed the mount on the back for the upper windshield bar and the Zumo GPS cradle to the front. I also ordered the GPS mount adaptor from Touratech, but it has not arrived yet.

Just fiddling with this version of the locking mount, I can say it seems much more secure than the other 2 I have for my other bikes. The older mounts have a different locking mechanism that, while secure, is not as secure feeling as this new one. Here is a photo of the other style mounted on my G650X Challenge.

Nothing better than Fastways in my opinion!

I also have these on my G650X Challenge and love them. I am a very large man and these are super wide pegs. The whole with of my boot is supported by it. I feel very secure when standing.

Here is a photo from that build. It shows the size difference between the Fastway, the stock BMW, and the Touratech the PO had on it when I bought .

Can't wait to see pictures of your new ride on your way back home, what a great way to start the year and congrats on the new bike !!! Fly n' ride was always on my mind when I was looking for my bike, it sounded like such an adventure riding back across the country (especially getting such a bike), but "got lucky" and found the perfect 2012 GSA, 20 minutes from where I live, so I just had a friend drop me off and it was not much of an adventure riding it home ... Oh well, I'll have plenty of opportunities to get out there ... Keep us posted.
