Deadly & Brodivich: tales from the bivouac have GOT to phone interview Luis at the very least and perhaps transcribe his experiences.

Now thats a dramatic thought.

My guess though is that Coma would have gotten some good time and changed the engine a day or two ago.

Pisco, straight lemons, sugar, and 1 egg white.
My very S.A. Chilean wife makes the batch freash and weekly. We keep Pisco on hand.

ESP during Dakar. Any any occasion that warants. Weekends count.

If somebody there can take a phone to Luis...I KNOW he would love to. He loves to talk and share. Sadly with costs....he only uses Skype etc for calls right now. Once they get to the hotel in Santiago..I can set something up there too. There is wifi there. Just let me know

I'm up for that. I feel Luis is a great interview subject, even regardless of bikes. He just has such a cool vibe about him.

From Botturi's FB:

After the navigational error paid dear yesterday, with an hour of penalty imposed by the judges, now the engine failure at km 133 forced him to retire, just as it was launched in special with a knife between his teeth, and, in spite of the dust and the difficulty of the rough mountainous terrain of Atacama he was in great comeback, having already recovered a dozen positions with several overtaking riders that left before him.
*
Beyond the great disappointment, however, are few regrets that the gladiator can have in this Dakar.

A race fought by each protagonist until the end, in which Alessandro has been shown to rely on the podium, both of which stage in the overall standings in the Dakar not as selective as the latest editions, where small errors in other editions could go straight away heavy as boulders in the standings.
Until last year, the gaps between the pilots were in the half-hour: this year, after 13 stages and 8,000 km in 24 minutes there are still four drivers.
*
The engine failure today leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, new and replaced just last night , because the team wanted to put Alessandro in the best possible conditions for a win in the last stage, after he had left the fight for the overall podium.
*
On the other hand, this hard-fought South American edition of the race was a test case for Alexander and the team Speedbrain: next year there will not be the excuse of being "newbies", and it will point up, with the awareness of porterci arrive, maybe with a little 'more than luck that, unfortunately, this year is sometimes not ...

I tried fixing up the italian but that last sentence is beyond me

if it was a mechanical stoppage for KC, he is very capable with the wrenches. He has competed in several ISDE where he has no choice but to work on the bike.. We will soon know what the delay was
