Goncalvesh:
Good people! Today the stage went quite well, I finished 3rd. I went on the track with the goal of fighting for victory in particular was close, but the ending was too fast and dangerous and I chose not to risk it! Tomorrow is the final step and I'll try to keep the tenth place overall or maybe even get up any position! Hug

Boas pessoal!

Am I wrong? He should of been past wp11 way before now if everything was ok?

finsihed mid field. Enter the bike the won the Dakar the previous year.......
Going back through threads and just running through a few things here, but I wonder if this is more of a production decision. Knowing that the Chinese seem to flood the market with copies (especially small cc hondas) could this be their way of testing?
'We've been building Hondas all the time, start with our base'
'Yamahas are good bikes, how might this tech help us'
'KTM is on top now, can we work a copy with their design?'
Then they take what they like and actually build prototypes...

Then again, do we really know if JinCheng is an actual builder in China or maybe they are just 'sponsoring' the team for promotion and recognition?

Strange nonetheless and just thinking out loud.

Cyrils blog:

It was a good stage today with lots of navigation in the first part of the timed special. What complicated the navigation was the amount of valleys on the stage, choosing the right one to ride in was not always so clear. With this in mind it was not a stage for pushing too much in terms of speed.

The navigation was further complicated because lots of fans had been riding on the stage before we got there so it was confusing to see all the different tracks on the ground. I could not trust the tracks in front of me and think that they were correct, instead I had to keep working and checking my own notes.

On the second part of special I kept to a comfortable rhythm simply because that was the way I had decided I was going to ride today’s stage. There was no reason to change my plan once we were out on the stage.

It’s always special when the day of the last stage arrives because of all the work I do to prepare for this moment. It’s a mix of excitement but also concentration because this would be the worse time to make some kind of mistake. I’m planning on finding a fast rhythm for tomorrow and just hope it goes well. There is no way I’m celebrating yet because I have too much respect for this race to think that any result is decided until my bike is safely over the finish line.

In situations like this I always remember back to when I was 14-years-old and my whole family contributed some money to get me my first bike. It was a second hand Fantic 80 trials bike and I loved riding that bike so much. Now more than 25 years I still get that same enjoyment from riding and that’s how I approach tomorrow’s final stage.

New engine for Chaleco?

@RallyRaidNews says Chaleco to get new engine. ESPN-reporter Argentina. Gear problems.

This will be interesting.

Sucks for Chaleco if true.

He was a lot later through WP10 than you would have expected based on his times through previous waypoints so maybe it will take a while to get to 11 as well. Come on Luis, keep it going.
