I expect it will be closer to Jurassic's prediction, Chaleco will probably be flying because he has everything to lose. He is only 1:30 above 4th so if Chaleco relaxes and Jakes rides like hell, Chaleco is off the podium with the also rans again. At Dakar, isn't 4th place first loser for the top riders?

It was a long stage. On the first part there was a lot of navigation. Verhoeven and Faria set out to attack and I tried to follow them. I stayed with them for a while, but then I saw I should be taking it a bit more calmly, to avoid making a navigation error. I managed to reach the refuelling point opening the way. After refuelling, I set off in front with Hélder, but he took an off-track direction which wasn't the right one. I saw that it wasn't the right way, so I headed further to the right. I saw that Chaleco was there and he was moving at a good pace. It was a good stage, but quite complicated and it was easy to get lost today.

dakar com
So, one reason why Helder lost time (could always blame the bike )what is odd in this statement though is that JB didn't really sound confident about his own navigation

Where's the F5 Ground Team? No Radio Maray speed-speech screaming? SMS to key personnel to call in to RallyRAIDio? Get one of those France 4 reporters to go get the dirt.

Is everyone getting tired?

No CdP will never change an engine unless there is a serious drama now, because he will pick up a 45 minute penalty for the 2nd engine change and that would be disasterous, Faria or no.

15 minute penalty for you for not knowing the rules

Welcome to the F5irehose veterans club Ric! I think you passed your n00b status big time with a massive performance through the rally in this thread!

Sending out some positive F5 vibes to bring it on home tomorrow to;

#98 - Manuel "Shoestring" Lucchese

#150 - Luis "Iron Man" Belaustegui

#168 - Lyndon "Pyndon" Poskitt

These riders are what the Dakar is all about, IMHO.

Yeah folks get kinda tired on the 2nd last day, and the last day is always a little subdued as well if you recall. I think tomorrow might still be quite exciting though, with the Chaleco Challenge.

I reckon Chaleco is going to go full gas all the way to get a stage win again. He is that type of competitor. Caution be damned he has a point to prove, and i think he has already put himself back in recognition as a real contender these last 5 stages. Bravo Lopez! Rummmmba Chaleco!

+1, but the others are too if you think about it.

Im just hoping all the riders will make it tomorrow. It would be devastating to lose it on the last stage for any one of them, and as far as I am concerned everyone who has got this far is a hero big time in my books.
