Having connected numerous trails via fire-road on a 2-smoker, it makes me wonder if Luis has a spare sprocket in his back pocket for the liaison stages.

I was there today

I got to watch the rally pass by today maybe 10 miles from where they hit Hwy 5. What a blast. Chaleco Lopez was in first when he came by our location and the Chileans loved it. Robby Gordon was way in front of the cars and was show boating or got a little more sideways than planned and sent the fans scurrying for cover. If this crummy internet connection in Copiapo allows, I'll post a photo of Pyndon. I'll be riding northbound now and will be back to the US in a couple months.

That would be too easy for Luis.

That'd be smart. Probably necessary, with all the long liaisons in the race.

GO LUIS!!!
Same here, but by choice, got a mac in the house, but the convenience of the iPad has won. Mobile, good while the mrs has the tv on and also last hour in bed at night and the first in the morning.

Ok not the greatest for speed and flexibility, but still far better than a pc

'Yamahas are good bikes, how might this tech help us'
'KTM is on top now, can we work a copy with their design?'
Then they take what they like and actually build prototypes...

Then again, do we really know if JinCheng is an actual builder in China or maybe they are just 'sponsoring' the team for promotion and recognition?

Strange nonetheless and just thinking out loud.
If they copied the HRC bike, which way would it go, better or worse

I think I've spent more time following this edition on the iphone, from 3+ in the morning to 7 or so, than in the office on the PC. The Mrs is really looking forward to a good nights sleep, whatever that means

I reckon Chaleco is going to go full gas all the way to get a stage win again. He is that type of competitor. Caution be damned he has a point to prove, and i think he has already put himself back in recognition as a real contender these last 5 stages. Bravo Lopez! Rummmmba Chaleco!
Yes, the engine change will alter his plans that's for sure.

If he see's himself as a victim of KTM's decision for the change, then he's going to wring it's neck tomorrow. If he stays on he will fly. I hope he does fly, and manages to navigate at the same time to at least keep 3rd.
If he wrings it's neck and it expires, he can blame KTM.

But on the other hand, KTM probably know he's not in a mind to spare things tomorrow. So in the big picture it's better to have a good chance to make it to Santago somewhere in the top 5 considering some of the front runners expired today.

These riders are what the Dakar is all about, IMHO.
And # 50 Chavo, he's an inmate and currently lying 31st with an engine change and a stator moment as well - go Chavo
