TSC, to be in charge of the official news, hopefully FROM the bivouac this time!
F5Bull competitors are definitely fast typers ;)

It was great watching the car race coming closer to an even playing field, congrats to Nasser and Carlos for going for it against all odds, that's a win in itself on how well they and the car did.
Robert, it started with US vs. THEM and ended YOU vs. YOU, slow down, focus on yourself and you'll go faster.
Peterhansel, much to be learned from him.
Cyril, the new wave is coming fast, especially with shorter special stages and less open navigation.
Marc, we missed you.
Chaleco, felicitationes.

But a special CONGRATULATIONS must be said to all the privateers we don't hear about, racing through chewed up terrains and dealing with incoming cars and trucks, some more respectul than others when passing and swinging the back of the vehicles in rocky sections.

See you in 2014
+1 Christophe!!!

We need your video brother!! When is it for sale?

Right now Dakar 2014 for me is a vague hope...Unless I have a miraculous healing and find $80K...

Make sure that there are no trailing spaces or anything like that added to it. You could also try to open it manually by copying the URL and chosing "Open Network" in the File menu of VLC.
Thanks had the same problem,,,

Now that the bulk of the excitement has passed, I'd like to mention that the female author they were interviewing on France 2, (before today's Bivouac) named Pamela Druckerman, among many things, actually not only gave but arranged, interviewed, and selected the third participant in a ménage ŕ trois that she GAVE her husband for his 40th birthday. I'm serious! Look it up.

A little late now but...

Problem is many of the stream links posted here get truncated with "....". You have to do a "Reply" to get the real link inside or when posting http:/ links put them in parentheses and you can see the whole link.

France 2

Without parens (can't cut and paste it properly)

http://chunk-output-1.live.tv-radio....x/1040/02.m3u8

With parens (cut and paste, without parens of course)

Grab the full link and in VLC menu Media/Open Network Stream and paste in and Play. Voila!

Great France 2 Bivvy show. That France TV crew this year was a hoot and fun folks. Really added a new dimension to this Rally.

Dakar race report-stage 14
LaSerena to Santiago, Chile
121km liaison
130km special
100km neutral zone
13km special
200km Liaison

Today was the final day of Dakar racing. We left the bivouac at 5:30am. Started out riding in heavy fog and mist on wet Tarmac. Not a good combination with fresh knobbies especially when you add in semi trucks and buses. This was the scariest part of the rally to me. Fortunately we rode out of the wetness soon and the sun came up. The special was hard pack and slick. Lots of cliffs and easy to throw it all away here. I rode conservative the first part as dust was hanging badly. My goal was to it to the finish in one piece.
I made quick work thru many riders and felt comfortable. Well really I just wanted to pass Lira Sans, SHE is really fast! How is it when your a dude and there is a chick that is ahead of you it makes you want to not get beat by a girl? I guess ask my boy Jeff Ray.
Anyway back to the race. After the special we fueled and took off on another monkey butt liaison. I think I used every position possible, standing, left cheek, right cheek, hanging legs, side saddle, arm back, arms straight.
Glad that is over!
The final special was a quick 13 km thru trees. I quickly caught Chavo but was held by his dust. We finished and were greeted by the top dudes at HRC and media. We started off for the final 200km liaison to Santiago. Millions of people lined the route into the parc Ferme. It was over. Mees is so tired physically and emotionally. Ribs hurt, hands and wrists ache, butt is for sure uncomfortable, back ache, head ache....you get the picture.
I am glad we are done. I am super pumped to finish this Dakar for HRC and my fans!
God Bless. Thank you for your prayers and support.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4 NIV)

Sincerely,
Johnny Campbell

So it looks like its going to be a 5 year plan for me afterall, and right now I need to find some motivation, because honestly, I'm a little nervous to get back onto a bike again after this injury. I'm sure that will change soon enough.
Rally on guys and ride safely!!!
Heal up well Neil. I know all to well about being busted up and rehab for month and months. I never let it keep me off a bike, but I have to admit it slows me down a bit more as I get older and it takes a LOT longer to heal.

Overall it's been an awesome Dakar this year! A whole lot of fun running with the F5 crew and less fun dealing with loss of sleep and work productivity but thankfully I have a mostly tolerant wife.

I've cheered for many underdogs in this Rally and huge kudos for the supreme effort by all the racers from CDP up front to Luis with the Red Lantern. My best wishes to all who were injured and hope they heal soon, and my condolences to the family's of those lost.

It's The Dakar!
