But if the car/truck biv is different than the bike/quad one, then I'd guess that they'd have to wait at the end of the stage for each other if there's an issue.

Not so much to avoid between vehicles, but to avoid what Coma did which was change the tire/wheel altogether with one that was not in the race. (the mustachioed man episode)
