I still thing water-carying concept is dumb if you have two or more strong riders. Each should support the other to maximize the chance of win.

I don't know, IF Cyril had mechanical issues (who knows maybe he had "Inca's revenge", soory no offense to Montezuema, and had to stop and crap every 10 km's ) then the water carrier concept is brilliant and well worth it as he will take whatever he needs from his WC's bike. Several times over the years the WC has "saved the day" for a top rider and enabled him to podium.

For this to work the WC should be a top 10-10 rider. Getting a free ride as a WC isn't a bad gig

Interesting! I thought I saw some race officials marking the tires and the rims at some point last year to avoid that the tires would be moved around between vehicles. Anyone have any info on that?

The reporter fund idea is for next year. Just trying to get it rolling now while interest is high, rather that starting up next summer when there are fewer eyeballs watching the rally threads.

I think the year-neutral design is a good idea.

Not so much to avoid between vehicles, but to avoid what Coma did which was change the tire/wheel altogether with one that was not in the race. (the mustachioed man episode)
