Only the motorcycles, quads and cars will be racing this afternoon. American Kurt Caselli was the first rider to start the special at noon local time, followed by "Chaleco" López and Olivier Pain, the Frenchman at the top of the general classification.

This just in from AOS officials
![]() As a result of the roadbook for stage 7 being cut on a new paper cutter using a 0.0003 mm blade, as opposed to an official 0.0004 mm blade, it was brought to our attention that the results of this error caused an upset in the official standings of the motorcycle class. KTM rider Cyril Dupres received a severe paper cut as a result of his roadbook being to sharpe. The results of the petition his team entered have been finalized. While changing his engine in the marathon bivouac last night, his paper cut prevented him from being able to properly perform this task in a timely manner. As a result he did not get a proper rest. AOS officials tried to alleviate the issue by providing Cyril with a proper cot type bed and a down sleeping bag but in the end his sleep was compromised. To rectify the issue of his bad sleep as an indirect result of an unofficial error on the organizations part (the sharp paper), the organization has ruled that no penalty will be given for his engine change. Cyril has been given back a further 13 minutes on his overall timing to ensure that the race is directed in a fair manner. The French champion now stands on the top of the leader board for the 2103 edition of the Dakar rally after completing 7 successful stages.
