CP2 TIMING

I still believe that CP2 times are a joke, and to make matters more perplexing, definitely not as beneficial as ASS times for Le Patron

Funny how Cyril knew to follow the river....

Anyone else think the navigation of the front-runners is a little lackluster with Coma out of the race?

And that should then give the ASO some credibility back. =) But then again, we've got Stéphane Peterhansel who might benefit from this. =)

Its nice when one or two guys are uncanny, becuase its delightful seeing that from here. its also terrific when the rest of them are confused its not all about simple speed over ground.

Cp2 timing will be more precise than Wp9, rule number 1: Posis on the Dakar website always take precedence over wps (live tracking)

Compare brodoviches link to this for example and you will see my mistake:

Dakar 2013 - Stage 8: Race cars stopped due to weather
* - Published on 12/01/2013 at 21:41

*
The eighth stage of the Dakar Rally between Salta and San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina Saturday, had to be interrupted during the "special" timed auto due to severe weather, the organizer ASO announced.

Heavy rains and swollen rivers have blocked the majority of competitors on four wheels.

"The marshals are currently meeting to decide how to recognize this milestone," announced the race director David Castera AFP.

The planned route of this stage (492 km for bikes and quads, 471 km for cars and trucks to 155 km), had already been severely cut before his departure due to inclement weather on the Salta region.

As the trucks were competing in the first part of the course, their stage was simply canceled.

In contrast, motorbikes, quads and cars were found on the second part of the "special", a distance of 183 km before arriving in San Miguel de Tucumán.

But in the afternoon the skies were unleashed. The majority of riders who led the march went narrowly over the whims of the weather and were able to make their race.

The Spaniard Joan Barreda Bort traveled the 183 km special 2 hours 7 minutes and 26 seconds, ahead of American Johnny Campbell 7 min 4 sec and Slovak Ivan Jakes 7 min 57 sec.

In contrast, a dozen cars only finished the timed course, the others being blocked by the rivers in flood.

The 8th marks the end of the first part of the 34th Dakar. Sunday is rest day Monday before resuming the race arrive in Santiago de Chile on 19 January.

Only thing is that the SS did not take place in this valley but the one to the south east.
