And the legendary Bob Bergman confirmed to me via twitter that even back in Africa, 2005, all he had for the marathon bivouac was an ASO provided bag big enough for some essentials and a sleeping bag. No box then either.

After the rest day, assuming that no cheating happened inside the bottom end, the only thing Cyril is missing is the stronger gears 690RR referred to. I'm sure he'll be quite careful with his shifting.

My sources say the same, that Coma's frustration with the relative lack of development in the 450RR is partly due to KTM's shifted focus on a new bike running EFI. KTM will remain in rally.

They built a new (and very winning) MX Bike from the ground up in a year. I'd be very surprised if it were 3 years before something new appears.

At the end of the first 225 km timed sector, before the neutralisation, Cyril Despres is the man to beat in today's special, with a total time of 2 h 55'16', followed by Joan Barreda at 4'05' and Johnny Campbell at 5'34'. Ruben Faria lies in fourth place, 5'38' down. Ivan Jakes is fifth, 6'49' back, followed by Hélder Rodrigues at 7'59'.

Holy cow

We thought he might have run out of petrol due to a leak, but the reason why David Casteu lost time in the special was because he hit a cow! The Yamaha rider hurt his shoulder. The medical team strapped it at the end of the first part of the special and will be keeping an eye on him.
