There is definitely a 6th sense to it, but, remember, Cyril had Kurt not more than a few seconds in front of him for the second (?) half of the stage, which was On Piste stuff. I'd say hanging behind Kurt is a pretty invigourating gauge on how well you are riding

Tee only thing i'd say is maybe make the first line at "zero" and then everyone else adding for longer bars (since that's what's really counting...how much MORE time everyone else has). Although this gives you the physical impression of how far "behind" everyone is which is neat too..
