American Johnny Campbell stopped for several minutes on the special just before the 25-km point, but has just started off again.

Depends on what you are defining...

Who is "winning" the Rookie standings (overall)

or who is looking like a winning "rookie" (for the future).

In the first respect, Black'nBluebulls saffer mate/candidate is leading the "rookie" standings (at present)...

but from the latter standpoint... both Caselli (US) and Grabham (Oz) have done more (individual stage results... albeit with some setbacks that put them down in the overall) to attract the interest of mattighofen and the rally press methinks.

At the limit between the sandy portion and mixed earthen/sandy terrain, after 37 km, Australian Warren Strange ground to a halt for several minutes, before setting off again.

This quote is on timing, physically it was still Caselli, Concalves, Despres, Pedrero, Lopez, Barreda, Botturi, Jakes on piste at WP2.

You know if they hit that pointy bit on the map after 2 with enough speed they can jump all the way to WP3!!

Read the whole article in the link above, nice summary
So it was not a fuel problem, so all what we have been talking arround was part of a mistake or HRC trying not to embarrassed themselves with the fuel issue?

One (biggish) error or hesitating too much at intersections... I wonder which.

Or, he is dialling back his afterburner, and focussing on going slower and hitting all the roadbook tulips correctly.

take your pick

So you'll be providing RG's race tactics for the rest of the show then... huh?

His placing today is also favorable, a very good position to attack...
