If your not familiar with Limestone Rd and McKiillops Rd...they are good roads but are pretty slow due to all the bends.
I think its about 200 km to Bombala from Benambra.
Are you still thinking going via Cravensville & Gibb Road, Hunk? If so might take a while to get to Benambra. If the weather is similar to this I would give it a miss as it is a bit hard to get out of there quickly if it gets smoky.

Its close to 400kms for me on the main rds, so I will do part of it Thursday after work.
The way you are going is the way I came home last year.

To all: I believe the weekend is a 'DOUBLE-DEMERIT' weekend, for our own safety.
I see Bergdonk has put his hand up for a bit of a ride Saturday morn.
We can then have lunch at the hall, settle in for the day or go out for another ride.

I will camp on the river where I did last year behind the tennis courts (in the quiet area ) do all the partying at the hall, then back to camp for a sleep.
Catch you up there.

Cheers
Peter

Where did that prophesy come from ... ?

Synoptic chart and BoM suggest possible light falls, but they generally just say that every now and then to look after our mental health ...

You can't take Weatherzone very seriously ...
BergDonk had a link to a long-range forecast from the Norwegian navy (true) which seemed to be surprisingly accurate - but I’d stick to the BoM for making plans ...

I assume that they must use BOM data, but they seem to do a better job with it. Different modelling algorithm, or something?

Nevertheless, might be some rain and be no complaints here:

Its what's needed to put the fire out. And there are others getting going now too. Too late to get out of Boorowa apparently.

I was thinking of the GIbb Range Rd to Nariel Rd...Probly not on my own though...are you up for that bit...? How much longer time wise that way rather than straight up to Mitta to Bemambra by 10 am.....

It'll be reasonably slow going as the road winds along the ridge and there are plenty of fallen rocks. The last time I was there the rest of the road around Wabba wilderness was typical remote track -wash outs, fallen trees, deer etc etc Some logging truck use down near the Dart river. If you want to be somewhere at a given time I would give it a miss and as mentioned before not a great place to be in fire season.

Anyone heading up to Jingellic along the River road there are fires around Burrowye, Mt Lawson, Guys Forest best to check CFA site before venturing that way.

We should balance the grenade's wheels before the weekend. Got 5 tyres to do so plenty to go around. Got a Heidenau saved up for you Will give you a ring when the gear is here although we can do the balancing whenever it suits you.

I've asked Mr G about a (return) route skirting the south west of Can'tberra. He led Gra' & I through there a few years back & we went via Vanities Crossing. He thinks it may now be gated closed

Any knowledge out there?

The notion is to head from Numeralla to Tinderry Rd, Burra, Angle Crossing, and then Brindabella. Going to Jugiong rather than Tumut.

from Numerella take Peak View Rd to Jerangle Rd then Right, through Jerangle to Anembo, left up Tinderry Rd to near Michaelago, right at the end of Tinderry to Burra, left at Williamsdale rd and down to Angle Crossing, your on your own from there.
