going all Tim 'the tool man' Taylor, I was thinking:
one of these:
http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/hst...LED/Detail.bok
10 of these.
http://www.all-battery.com/tenergypr...ery-10518.aspx
Build a PWM circuit for a dimmer to get a longer run time.
Should get me 1.5 hours on bright maybe, kinda short. But I would wire me up to the bikes electrical for an all night ride and be able to charge the battery.

But I might end up with:
http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/hst...met/Detail.bok
Cheaper, easier, it will probably work for what I need, just not as bright, and the run time from battery is significantly longer.

Ryan - your helmet light had all the light you needed?
The site for Ryan's light had the best charts of the light thrown from their lamps I've seen. Super simple to understand.

Yep, and then some. I ran with it on low most of the time. The l-ion battery gives me +6.5 hrs, but the batteries are pricey. The mounts they have are slide in stick on to the helmet. During the day I have them in my pack, when its getting dark I just take the light out of the pack and clip it on to the helmet and hit the button. All around good setup, led lights have come a long way! I'm guessing you guys can pull something together and make it work without paying $290.

Do you guys do any rides like this in Moab? Going to try to head over there in late April early May. It's just not as much fun by yourself.

I'll be there in March:

But it will be lots of tooling around without much epic-distance riding.

We normally do one in the fall each year (Oct/Nov time-frame)....
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=728207

I'm guessing we will do one this year if we have enough interested riders.

Of course I would be interested. Hoping to make several Moab spring trips and several fall trips. I also want to do a weekend trip at Peach Valley late April or may, if anyone is interested. Its a very fun riding area with lots of variety and free camping.

I also want to do alot of riding this year. I'm hoping all my work on the XR this winter keeps it as dependable as it was before I tore it apart. It will either go up in flames after the stator upgrade, or engine will pop off with the top end refresh. I didn't touch the kick stand, so it should be good to go.

Crap. Things will be busy this summer, but I would have to find a way to make it to that one should it materialize.

So if you guys are interested in a Peach Valley Ride some time in May, Morgan (owner of Highland Cycles in Montrose) and I were talking about organizing a ride and then providing beer and BBQ for dinner one day after. I have never ridden out there but I guess Morgan knows the area really well.

We have not talked much more about it at this point, but if there is some interest we can try and set something up on a Saturday and Sunday this spring
