I've only had minor injuries, knock on wood, due to my own stupidity, mostly burns on my leg from riding in shorts and sandals.
However my brother, (who was a very inexperienced rider at the time and bought a full dresser Harley although I warned him it was WAY too big of a starter bike) lost his leg due to a crash on said Harley. |

wrecked yesterday at 9400ft
Been riding since I was 12, so for 31 years, mostly legally. See my ride report titled day trippin Colorado. Basically busted a couple ribs on my right side. Broke left side ribs, broke collar bone, broke left elbow, and got a nasty gash that took years to heal on my right thigh. Other than that, I am peachy. Most accidents it seems are riders going to fast or riding in bad conditions (like me on ice yesterday
) If you ride off road with me be prepared to go slow, because I don't like picking up my moto every five minutes, like some people do. They are so much more fun when the shiny side is kept upright.

I raced dirt bikes competitively, in enduros, for four or five years as a kid. Rode a road bike for a few years in my early twenties back and forth across the US. I got back on bikes in 2005 and ride regularly year round. Lots of bumps and bruises dumping dirt bikes. Nothing major. A few summers ago I attempted to take my 650 Dakar over Kingston Peak with a bunch of the yahoos that live on this site (yahoos much more capable than me). Fractured a couple of metatarsals in my right foot and a small fracture in my left arm. No big deal. I was off the bikes for a month or two.
In 2002 I was sliding down a hill in a cardboard box at Copper Mountain. Broken back, damaged spinal cord, punctured lung, torn aorta, dislocated leg and severed nerve to my left vocal cord. Out of work for a year. My conclusion. Stay out of cardboard boxes and don’t ride where you don’t belong with this talented bunch of yahoos and you will be okay.

There was one category for the poll that was missing... I got hurt, had to ride with the nice folks in the box truck with the feel-good juice, but I'll be fine when I'm healed (Or, worded for the poll... I got hurt, rode in the ambulance, and I had no lasting complications).
I crashed, broke my collar bone, and once I'm done with PT, I'll be as close to 100% that it won't be worth noting the difference. Before that was just scrapes.

I say it's only an accident if you don't walk away from it. In that sense, I've had 2, the second one I was hopping and the bike was totaled; I only needed stitches so it's a grey area.
First was bad, collapsed lung, broken ribs, ruptured spleen, and pretty much all abdominal organs were bruised and swelled up inside, flirted with renal failure, and had an aortic abnormality that the cardiologist and radiologist didn't know what the fuck was going on but it disappeared by the time I had my 60 day followup CT so that was good. I was in the hospital for 6 days and am back to normal now spleen and all. Marked the second poll option though.

And RDR* riding is bad. Some of the worst injuries occur on the track. Keep those wheels on the ground. Want big air? Come pull my finger.
