She's also far more balanced than other kooks Obama would consider for the position.
However, I didn't think much of her as Gov.

I can assure you that she had no idea that 2011 SB5800 facilitated that happening.

Weren't bike lobyists in the "signing photo"?
If she's that uninformed (or stupid) to sign law that included languages to fully plate dirt bikes.....
and didn't know it????????
....then maybe her appointment IS something to be afraid of.....

If you're not pissing people off, you're not doing your job as a politician, I guess.

The EPA has been gutted, much like the Office of the Governor (the governor does not have power over the other executive offices, such as AG, public lands commissioner, treasurer, etc).

Nothing will really change. Gov. Locke was the Secretary of Commerce and I can't recall a policy he's implemented during his tenure.

So chill out?

I was in the front row of the photo.

We never mentioned anything relation to engine types when lobbying for the conversion law.
I have no reason to believe that the Governor was ever breifed on that specific issue.

Given the WA Dept. of Ecology's confused, ignorant, heavy-handed, and often ignorant approach to many aspects of their purview,I'm in the environmental remediation industry, working nationwide - and Washington is one of the most backwards, frustrating states we work in. Cleanup proposals that are effective and economical, that are eagerly approved in other states are denied here routinely, because the regulators simply don't understand the technology and have no interest in learning about it. I don't think that heading up Ecology should be a ringing endorsement of Gregoire's abilities - just the opposite, in fact. Brokering any sort of agreement at that black hole of paper-shuffling known as Hanford means nothing.

Hey, show some respect! That black hole is in my back yard!! And the paper-shuffling keeps the local economy going.

As far as EPA, from my perspective it has been emasculated over the last 10-15 years. The economy and business interests far outweigh the environment in national policy decisions. The bureaucrats run it and I doubt the POTUS or even the top administrators have a huge amount of influence over the bulk of their work. I'm sure some businesses feel over-regulated, but there is still plenty of pollution escaping.

Comment to OP: it seems strange that conservatives/republicans seem opposed to environmental legislation, given their stand on most morals issues. Being good stewards of the earth is considered by most to be a moral obligation as well.

Most conservatives want less government, not more.

I use this as an example: Gregoire’s support for hitching the state’s clean air standards for cars to California’s higher standards in 2005.

Enough for me, I don't want her as the head of the EPA.

I know, right?
Like, doesn't she know there are bike riders that don't care about that?
So out of touch with her public

Don't confuse GEF with reason.

This is a CSM thread.

GEF refers to Gregoire as a "whore", so you can understand the level rhetoric you are dealing with here.

My own personal ADV troll, Diredolt.

Yes Diredolt, I did call her Gregwhore, but not in this thread.

Why not mention welfare whores, hood rats and crack babies while you're on a roll there Diredolt.

I can't believe that my opinion can cause such a
