Over time I've discovered using multiple smaller compression bags are easier to pack than one larger one. Painful to purchase but easier to live with. Love the Sea to Summit products. Tent fits in an XS if I pack the poles separately. Bedding also fits in its own XS. Keeps the wet from dry by default. Quote:

Hip waders. LOL
possibly scuba gear for lost gear. Don't forget to put floats in all your bags. Don't want you stuff sinking. LOL

For you veterans, I'm struggling to make a tire choice for this ride. This will be my first time to the Roaming Rally. Heidenau's or Dunlop 908/MT 21 combo or something else? I currently run the Heidenau's and love them as an all around tire, but I was out in the mud and snow today and they were not the best.

Pick up my Probend KTM hand guards today and a rad guard for the 690's semi vulnerable rad. Everything installed without any issue. Stock handguards provide more coverage but lack the hard aluminum backbone. Also picked up a new pair of boots, my first MX style boots, a pair of Tech 3 Off Roads. First impressions...I need to move the rear brake lever down and out of the way and I may take the pivot pegs off and put the oem back on.

Then again, the Heidenaus remind me of the Gripster and I'm not a fan of those in the mud. YMMV.

My choice for the past two years has been Kenda Big Block for the rear and Millville for the front. I seriously doubt (and hope) this year can be any sloppier that the first year. This combo worked very well for me. At one point I was in a swamp with water and black muck over a foot and half deep and had really no problem. Last year there wasn't as much wet but quite a bit of loose gravel and rocks. Again I had no issues.
I have a Heidenau K60 on the rear of my Adventure right now and it's been a terrific tire but,,,, I find once they wear down to the center bar and those big lugs get to be all one big flat center, the tire is pretty much useless on anything but dry surfaces. I use a utility knife to keep cutting the connector as the tire wears. Like EvilClown says above,,,,, YMMV

Montana mounted and adv-spec side covers on. Soon time to spoon on the new tires and break them in.

I mounted some Kends BBs a few weeks ago. Great traction off road (although I have not tried the mud yet). They have great road manners too.
