Welcome to every motorcycle ever made. Even Wingers say the stock seats suck. Obama should make it law that all new bikes be sold at a $200 discount sans any seat at all. For the environment's sake.

BMW never made one that didn't. BUT, the optional comfort seat actually is, I was pleasantly surprised and like it very much!

Seat concepts
Inexpensive option. Proper molded foam and good cover. Fit yourself. Bloody fantastic.

Coming from a mountain biking background, motorcycle seats are plush.
Could you imagine riding this thing for hours on end? http://www.cyclingdeal.com.au/assets.../WTB-LASER.jpg |

That's like comparing sitting on a phallic shaped object to sitting in a chair there.

BMW assumes your going to ride the stocker home and then buy a custom seat. Did someone forget to tell you. I like my Sargent, look around the FAQ this site for some of the other seats. Dave

I sent mine off to XPC seats and had a new covering and the foam redone. It was a little pricey at around $300-$350, but I've already sent them my Triumph and Ducati seats.

No problem here too with my stock low seat of my 800GS...
But I come from a '04 KTM 950 Adv which had a make-of-wood seat For complete days of riding, I wear Fox bike shorts under my pants and no problem too ;)

I was told recently by the local BMW dealer that as of 2013, any model you buy out of the adventure bikes, you can change seats from the normal, to short and now to the BMW comfort seat option as well for about $150.00 extra. I have this seat on my 2010 F800GS. It was about $500.00 more at the time, no option to purchase before. So this is good. I love my seat, the original made my ass bleed within blocks of the house.
