Emergency : Looking for Mechanic in Green River, Utah

Dear Fellow Riders,

I''m on RTW trip and I'm stuck in Greenriver, Utah right now... I have a problem with the battery indicator light...Don't know why the light stays on... Does anyone know of a mechanic near this area, who could diagnose the cause ? For your information, I ride BMW R1150GS 2002 and I'm in Green River, Utah right now... Any idea and suggestion are appreciated...

Many thanks !!

Does the bike start and ride? What is the condition of the battery?

Check your alternator belt. If it's bad, there's a Napa equivalent that should be easy to source at a local auto parts store.

NAPA part #040233, 14 mm x 620mm (25" belt)

If you are heading this way, I could help you out. I have the same bike and lots of tools/spare parts.

Thanks to concern, I passed and stop in Duranggo 4 days ago... I was heading to Zion Nat Park but returned 38 miles to Green River when the light came on and stayed on...

You might try calling the folks at Dual Sport Utah. They rent dual sports in Moab. Can't remember the owner's name but he was very helpful with my questions. He may know of local BMW resources. Phone# 435 260 2724

You could try Fred at Arrowhead Motorsports (Moab) - he's a pretty smart fella.

Great job Annie.....I got to this thread late (as always)......and I ride a 2002 1150GS......that belt is a known issue and maintenance item....good to remember on longer expeditions.
