Safari tanks save in kangaroo crash
My Safari tanks saved me in a 50mph/80kmh encounter which left me still upright, and the kangaroo dead! The 'roo came out of the dark and hit me side on the left tank, missed my leg and then broke the Gobi pannier mount, depositing the pannier and itself dead on the road. I snaked a further 10 metres down the road.
The damage was a broken pannier mount, and a broken tap on the equaliser tube between the two tanks. I was able to shut the equaliser and right tank down, to continue our journey (with pannier strapped behind me). I believe it was the resilience, flexibility and impact absorption of the Safari tank that saved me from a very bad "off" - Most riders round here that hit roos end up in hospital! Next farkle purchase after repairs is a set of LED driving lights, and an H1/H7 set of Phillips Extreme Vision bulbs. Plus a New Year resolution not to drive at night in kangaroo country .... - Charles |

Bloody Roos, I have 2 hits and 1 off with the damn things. KTM crash bars helped last time.

Seeing them is no guarantee of not hitting them.
