Heated grips not very hot

Anyone ever have an issue with their heated grips not getting very hot anymore? Mine work but are only mildly warm even on the high setting.. I remember them being much hotter when I first got the bike..? I have a new battery and my voltage monitor stays above 12.9 volts. However, I think my stator might be on it's way out, so it could be related?

Possibly related to the stator - they grips seem to have three automatic settings even when the switch is turned to "high". As far as I can tell there is a low - under 3k rpm, med - 3-4k, high 4k and up. They do this to keep the battery from draining just to run the grips, so if your stator has reduced output the computer may not let them come up to full power. Try dropping a gear and see if it improves things.

FWIW, Mine have never gotten very hot either. I've not heard the RPM thing, but I usually only use the grips on the highway and should be above 4K.

My buddies KTM 990 will just about burn bare hands on high.
Friend: That was some trail shortcut. Me: Yep. See how fast we got lost.
