This was my grandfather's gas station -- owned it with his brother. It was in the San Fernando area (Southern California) and they lost it in the Great Depression due to having extended too much credit to their customers.

This gas station in Cloquet, MN that was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright opened in 1956. I believe it's still open.

I love how nowadays them just putting gas in your car is considered "full service".
What happened to checking your oil, air pressure, and cleaning your windshield? ![]() And the glasses, sunglasses, toys, etc. you used to get with a fill up? Even the gas smelled better back then.

From somewher in the middle of Finland, picture taken in 2012. Is not and certainly hasn't been as glamorous as some of the American counterparts :)

great show
Hate to admit it, but these pictures bring back memories. Pleasant ones. When I left the farm for the Air Force gas was 19 cents a gallon and Camel Cigs 19 cents a pack. $5 was 20 gallons of gas and $1.90 for a carton of cigs. Had a lot of fun with the ladies on a $20 bill.

Southern Quebec, 1938. My uncle....grandpa then the other little guy is my father. I was born in that house and spent a lot of my youth in that shop after they moved it and turned it into storage then built a modern shop.

Gas
I live right next to a old gas station. Back when I was a kid my Grandpa would stop there for gas. If the owner was out on a wrecker call he would leave a cigar box with money in it out on the counter so you could make your own change.

I think this was NC? There was a old Union 76 gas pump on the left side of the building. The place was called "Jim's Junk"
