should i spring my dualsport loaded up ?
hello
I have a xr600 in which its only purpose will be loaded up with giantloop bag and 5 gallon gas tank etc . I can tell it is not sprung even before i put the load on it. although I dont plan on hitting the big whoops and g outs on a regular basis should i spend the 250.00 or not ? |

I know it made a huge diffrence in my DR. I'm a light 220 plus adding 70lbs with saddle bags and such made it miserable to ride with stock springs. I got a spring (8.3 if I remember correctly) for the rear shock. Unloaded I have the preload backed off and when I load it down I turn the preload up. Makes the bike feel more "solid" in the loose gravel and such.

If that's the way you normally ride it, then yes, set the preload and suspension settings for that.

Getting the spring right for your load and riding purpose is always money wisely spent! Its a safety issue, a ride comfort issue and a reliability issue.
I'd say yes, its worth the money. Just be sure its not just a strong spring, but that th erest of the shock is built to control that stiffer spring, too.
