Comment Period-Ridgeway travel plan

ACTION ALERT FROM COHVCO

Voice your support for Alternative 2 of the BLMs Ridgway Travel Plan to maintain motorized access

The BLM is currently seeking public comments on an Environmental Assessment for the Ridgway, Colorado area where the preferred Alternative closes almost all motorized access to the area. We need your comments in favor of Alternative 2. The Preferred Alternative would basically close all motorized access to the area, so we need your support for Alternative 2 which would create 13 miles of trails in the area.

Issues with the Plan
  1. The previous travel plan finalized in 2011 for this area has not been fully implemented-creating many of the issues raised to allegedly support the preferred alternative. Poor signage and maps have directly contributed to many issues identified in the Proposal. Poor implementation does not justify closures!
  2. National level recreational spending totals are relied on to close motorized access to a local area - this information is simply not relevant to calculating economic impacts from the Proposal. The Plan does not address the 102 million contributed to the planning area by motorized recreation.
  3. User conflicts are not properly analyzed and the Proposal will increase user conflict rather than mitigate them. Concerns regarding sound are evidence of user conflicts and not legal violations.
  4. Illegal dumping of trash in the planning area is not a recreational management issue but an enforcement issue as this activity is illegal already. A greater recreational presence will help identify illegal dumpers in the area.

Bump!!
Come on fellas, theres a big push to keep this new trail system non motorized. Who wouldn't want a little 20 mile warm up on your way out to ride the 100's of switchbacks on the Alpine Trail? Or a warm down on your way back to the Grit for drinks? 20 miles of new motorized trail should be important to all ya all!

Its my opinion that the Uncompahgre Field Office have not been romanced by the mtn bike crowd to the point of ignoring us. They did give us the Sidewinder trail after all.

I'm pretty hand tied......but you front range fools MUST reply, anyone who doesn’t is a "gaper, lazy or pussy" Make your choice....Gaper, lazy or PUSSY, or reasonable dude on all accounts that likes to ride motorcycles, or a guy that likes multiple use. Choice is yours... selfish lazy D-bag or a guy or a guy/gal that wants to change how they are "managed". We are "managed" without our input, unless we give it.

True for most stuff...calling out people...priceless....no, not even close...needed!

Untie your hands You Utard. Why shouldn't they hear that people from other states are interested in this? That sounds like economic benefit to me. They don't need to know that Tom or I would probably just put you up, or put up with you, however it works. More voices of support, all the better. I am hoping to stop by the Montrose office next week and see what else I can do/learn..
