This Jeep Blows...
A friend of mine made this. Harry lives in the foothills of southeastern Wyoming where the snow and the wind conspire frequently to make roads impassable.
[IMG] [/IMG]Harry bought the snowblower at a government auction somewhere, and the Jeep somewhere else. The Jeep has a 350, and I don't remember what year it is. He devised hydraulic actuation for lifting the snowblower, and for rotating the discharge chute. To power this, Harry mounted an additional power steering pump modified for extra fluid capacity. The horizontal radiator hose seen on the far side of the engine is this modification: [IMG] [/IMG]The snowblower is shaft-driven off the PTO to the pillow blocks visible next to the discharge chute, with the shaft having an ample slip joint to enable lifting the unit. The pillow blocks allow chain drive to the snowblower input shaft: [IMG] [/IMG] At the time I took these pix, this was a work-in-progress so several of the above components were missing. Another view of the drive & lift mechanism: [IMG] [/IMG]The actuator cables leading to the valve assembly where the bumper should be are connected to these levers: [IMG] [/IMG]I've seen those levers do their thing, and this machine has amazing potential. The unit is designed to remove in 1/2 to 1 hour, so it doesn't render the Jeep useless in the summer. This includes removing the Vermeer counterweights in the back. This man is a good friend and a talented fabricator with an amazing head for solving problems mechanically. He should be proud of this creation. [IMG] [/IMG]

Bear in mind that whole snowblower comes off quite easily for rock work.

Check out another of his creations in the Cool Trucks thread-- it's an M715 with a dump bed and some other trick mods.

Pto
Maybe i just cant see but was this jeep already equiped with a PTO in front or what exactly powers it? Is the PTO also hydrallically driven from the extra power steering pump, or is there a PTO off the transfer case??
Oh yea, very nice and practical idea. I have seen the same only with a small motor mounted right on the blower and snowplow brackets for lift.

It is PTO driven from the transfer case, and Harry went through several PTO's before he found one with the right height.
