1980 Husqvarna WR250

Seeing the great vintage iron on ths thread inspired me to post. So I restored this machine a couple years ago after finding near Chicago. I purchased it from the son of the original owner who raced it from 80-83 and then parked it it a shed. It still had dirt on it from that last race when I got it, but all those years of sitting were definitely not kind to it. I quickly decided against preserving it as an "original" with patina because it was really more of an eyesore. Some parts were also pillaged over the years, but it was remarkably complete and it had a street title. In fact, he even still had the gas tank that came off before it left the showroom! It was raced with a white plastic tank.

Sweet! I'd love to find a tank that clean for my XC430! What paint did you use for your frame and wheels?

Very nice. I would love to get my hands on one. The only Euro dirt bikes I owned back then were Bultacos.

Thanks! The wheels are actually factory and just required a whole lot of cleaning. I used some kind of Krylon gold on the bars that was a pretty good match. For the frame I tested a lot of differnt shades and finally settled on flat aluminum engine paint with PJ1 epoxy clear gloss as a top coat. It's tough paint and the final result matches so well the rear engine mount that I didn't repaint looks spot on.

I didn't use any powdercoat as this bike is ridden and that stuff if tough to work with when it comes time to clean it up again!

Love old Huskys. Your looks terrific!!!! I had a 71 250 Cross bought it new but only kept for a few years.
