Time to Start Working on the 2013 PB300
Hey: So the time has come to start getting this years PB300 together.
Thanks to Cross Country Cycles for sponsoring this years event. The route will be very similar to what 2012 was supposed to be, with minor changes due to new Forest restictions, but all in all a great ride. We will do a few prerides in the next month or so. If you wish to be on the crew, email me at info@pinebarrens500.org and I'll see if we can fit you in. Or if your worthy. ![]() The entry form will go up mid summer, and the event will be limited to 150 riders. No CC limits, but all machines must be 100% street legal, no Two Strokes or Trail Bikes. No exceptions, all bikes will be inspected and will need a sticker to enter the event. Knobby Tires are required, no exceptions. The Event is GPS navigation only, no route sheets or arrows to follow. We will organize groups for riders without GPS's, if you wish to lead one of these groups and are good with GPS navigation, let me know. The GPS route will go out 3 days before the event. A test file can be sent prior to that for testing your device. The GPS route will be sent out as .GDB and .GPX file only. We use Garmin GPS's (Chart Plotter Devices are best)and Garmin Mapsource to layout the ride. We recommend you use those too. We will not support Smart Phone Apps. If you wish to Navigate by Smart Phone/Android, you will need to convert the official file. No other files will be available. It's just to much work to deal with and has caused issues in the past. Someone may convert the file and post it, but the PB300 organization is not responsible for its content. Here's some other information on what we've been up to. As some of you my know, we have started a Riding school, called "Pine Barrens Adventure Camp". The idea for the school came from past PB300/500 events, where riders on brand new GS1200's, KTM 990's or other machines would show up and say, "I've never ridden in the dirt and I figured a 300 mile ride would be a great way to start." Ten miles later we would be picking them up with the rider wondering how they got in so far over their heads. We will host a school called "Intro to the PB300" Nov 15th and 16th. Email info@pinebarrensadventurecamp for more info. We have also organized a couple of "Test Events" in Pa. and Va. over the last year for the Schools Sponsor BMW Manhattan. The rides are similar in layout to the PB300, doable on a GS class machine and GPS guided. These events will be "Real Events" soon. Here's a clip from a Hero section at the Blue Ridge Ride a few weeks ago in Va. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNQ9C...ature=youtu.be Email info@pinebarrensadventures.com for more info. Also we are doing a GPS Navaigation seminar and Two Machine setup and Ergonomics Classes at Twisted Throttles open house May 18th at their location in RI. To sign up for the seminars contact http://www.twistedthrottle.com/ These Seminars and Class's will be under our new organization called BigRide BigRide will offer rides and riding schools in other locations in addition to organizing the Pine Barrens 300. Look for more info and details coming soon. Thats all for now. Jack PS Jeff, can't wait to se That HP2, Good Luck with it. Can you do this yet? ![]() How about this? ![]() Pratice, pratice, pratice. jack splash screwed with this post 05-04-2013 at 04:45 PM |

Inspirational pictures Jack!
I remember riding with Jimmy Lewis at that 2007 BMW >>EXPLORE event and being amazed at how he tossed that big bike around. He actually made riding it in the dirt look easy. I am going to start practicing with this 450 pound monster.
