But anyway, find out what her fears are and I'm certain this crew can help her out. Lots of folks to pick up a downed bike, lots of experience to help get going, and a laid back attitude make it perfect for her to feel comfy.
Which bike will she be riding?

As for the helpfullness of the group, I can attest to that! I rode up on my street bike 2 years ago for the rally and another inmate offered to let me ride one of his bikes off-road. I had never ridden off-road before, except for the approx. 10 miles of dirt / gravel road leading to the camp ground. With the exception of the water crossings, I was able to ride 90% of the fire roads without incident. I did have a couple of get-offs; caught in a rut leaning the wrong way, spun the rear wheel in the muddy snow and low sided, and stopped on an off-camber road and tried to get off of the bike when it was leaning way too far over... I'm sure I had a couple of other naps but all in all, it was a great introduction to off-road riding...

Also, each time we stopped as a group, people were very open to giving coaching advice to my riding and how I could get better. They were even nice about it...

I was thinking 1) nobody break any bones or need an life flight, ok? 2) she gets to talk with all the ladies (not just cuz I'm a perv) to get some encouragement. She's going more to hangout out at camp and by the lake, but I want her to wish she was riding so she let's me buy her a bike! Maybe we'll ride 2-up, we've done a little bit of that. She doesn't have a bike, but we have been talking (mostly me!) about getting her a 250. Would love to hear about how women have chosen and set up their bikes to ride. She's 5'5 / 110 so understandably concerned about being able to handle a bike offroad. I saw how increbibly supportive the group can be in Death Valley; my experience there made her far more interested in coming to Mendo.

Side note:
I'm doing a weee scouting trip up there Sunday morning (Apr 28) with a guy on a GSA. More of a chill low key ride. Nothing fast or technical.

Through Indian valley, Letts Lake, Pills, then south on back-roads to Santa Rosa.

PM if you wanna tag-along.

Does anyone know if a stickered bike will be OK to be up there that weekend?

I thought OHV areas close up in a few days.

You'll be fine. That's one reason we do it early.

You can confirm here.

Just rode to Pillsbury and camped at the resort this last weekend. Weather was great and the riding was even better. Very dusty. The accomadations at the resort were nice.

Rode into the lake from Clearlake, and then did a big loop on M6 and ended up on Mendocino Pass Rd outside of Covelo.

I guess M1 over Hull Mountain is still snowed over on one side so we went around the pass on a wide loop. We only ran into a small patch of snow for about 20'. Saw a lot of deer and elk.

For any of the big bike riders, it was a good and manageable ride. We were on an F800, Triumph Tiger and a KTM950.

Hope everyone has a good time, it was great for us.

In my mind I keep throwing around this awful idea to bring my mountain bike and ride up to Hull Mtn. I might be convinced to actually do this if anyone else was interested too. Speak up. It will be a total suffer fest.

Ordinarily, I'd be tempted. However, at the moment, I can barely ride my dirt bike (I'll be restricted to gentle fire-road riding this time around), let alone a bone (read: wrist) jarring mountain bike to the top of Hull Mtn.

Sorry to hear about your injury. I, too, am looking for the same type of roads to ride this weekend...

I'm interested and will be bringing a bike. I plan to arrive Saturday morning. There's a small chance I could get there as early as Friday afternoon.

Dude I'd be all over it, but I'll probably either be on the table or just getting out of the hospital then.

Well, i think that's better than coming out of the hospital as a result of being *under* the table
