KTM dirt bikes stolen - Wilson, NC

Hey, y'all... I hope this is OK to post here...

A VCHSS racer had his garage broken into and 5 bikes were stolen. Really sucks the big one, especially since it appears he bought the 65 for his son for Christmas. Anyhow, info on the bikes/owner can be found here:

2006 KTM 65SX
1999 KTM 125 SX (updated with 2005-07 KTM plastic and bodywork)
1999 KTM 200 EXC (991 on plates, updated with 2005-07 KTM plastic and bodywork), rear silver fender, pink 991 on silver background
1999 KTM 300 EXC (991 on plates, updated with 2005-07 KTM plastic and bodywork), all silver plastic with KTM/Penton graphics on shrouds
1999 KTM 380 MXC (991 on plates, updated with 2005-07 KTM plastic and bodywork)

A good reminder that we should all consider insuring our bikes if we can.

That stinks. If they were in his garage, the dirtbikes should fall under his homeowners or renter insurance policy.

Not always true. We have extra riders for our toys (guns, electronics, etc). Everyone should be double checking their homeowners/renters insurance.

Most Homeowners Insurance Policies exclude coverage for Mobile Equipment unless it is used solely to service the premesis, ie: a four wheeler that is used by the Homeowner at there residence only and not ridden recreationally. Check with your agent and ask if they can Insure the moblie equipment seperately. Also ask if the item is used in a race will that exclude coverage. Better to know up front before something happens. There are specialty Insurance Companies that cover all kinds of vehicles for just about any kind of loss.

not entirely true.............Nationwide covered my losses in "the fire" including all bikes, snowmobiles, and atv's EXCEPT the ones that were covered under their own policy (ie....streetbikes). The adjuster told me they only had to be used on occassion to maintain the property and that could be as little as riding to check the mailbox. So, we all use our bikes to "check the mail"
