Forgot I'd opted for the street tires for that ride. Even with the high-speed lowside, it was a fookin' great day of riding!

It looks like I won't be able to make it to NC Friday, but I will be in Jamaica Saturday no matter what.

BTW: A big for WH offer of assistance.
HenryMartin says Sandwich Notch Rd is easy enough for large sport-tourers two up!!! He LIES!

+1 to WHG for the lending of support! Good on ya, mate!

I plan to be in Jamaica for the Saturday night camping/riding.... I'll be in tow of Mr. Tourguide

While I can not vouch for weather Henry lies in general I can say he is right about Sandwich Notch. I stumbled on to that road,in the rain, on my first two up trip on my brand new V strom 1000 which I had little experience with. We were loaded for a long weekend in VT and riding on stock trail wings...no issues at all. Been over it many times since and have seen many loaded bikes including a Ninja 600

Have to agree here. Sandwich notch road is VERY dangerous. You should not attempt this road unless your off road riding skills are exceptional.

especially if you are traveling in the opposite direction as myself!

IIRC, your daughter had a blast, and the FJR did just fine two up. Maybe if you wouldn't be such a wuss, you would have had fun as well

What are you bringing to WHACO? If the FJR, I have some other roads in mind, from Newfane to Arlington Just ask GUY - he will confirm the FJR would be just fine.

HM- My plan is to ride the last of the life out of the knobbies on the KLX so I can put a new set of sneakers on for the trails!

What types of riding are available in the Jamiaca area, anyone? I have been through there on the FJR on the main roads.... seems like a nice area for some dual sporting!

Absolutely nothing worth riding around here. There is no fun to be had on two wheels anywhere within 50 miles of Jamaica State Park.

And as for Kelly Stand. It was not repaired before the winter, I doubt they did it during winter, and chances are they won't get to it before WHACO, if ever. I only turned around because I was on MY bike. I'll gladly make an attempt to cross it on anybody else's bike but I take no responsibility for the damage that's sure to ensue. Then again, maybe mama nature created some all-natural log bridges over the recent thaw and it'll be a piece of cake.

I guess I should take the WR then. There is only one way to find out - follow Guy. The 650 is too heavy to pick up.

I wonder and doubt if they'll ever get around to fixing that beautiful road.
