Just finished plotting a wee dirty bike route for Jamaica, installing the stock exhaust on the Gas Gas, adjusting suspension, fixing a hole in the KTM exhaust, and plotting my route to Saco River - trying to stay off pavement as much as possible since I'm bringing the new Spanish filly. Might need new tires by the time I get to Whitehorse.

Pretty sure CJ's giant loop bag came with an extra heat shield to keep the bags from melting.

I used some high heat glue and plumber's fabric to make a new lining for mine on the muffler guard when the stock aluminum came off for exactly this purpose. So far, no problems with my Wolfman bags.

I do realize the giant loops are different material, but the ballistic nylons out there will also melt with heat (Cordura, etc) and abrasion/friction.

Yeah, but I didn't use it

I don't know, this is the first I've used the GL bag on the WR. On my KLX, I added some additional heat shield tape on the underside of the right side plastic because Kawasaki went a little skimpy on the heat shielding. I also used the GL heat shield on that bike, but I think that was overkill.

The WR heat shield has very good coverage and doesn't seem to get too warm. I did put a piece of heat tape over one of the heat shield mounting bolts because I noticed they do get very warm. Now you've got me worried, I may throw the GL heat shield on over the OEM one.

Damn, don't worry. I did not mean to bring that about. I also noticed the WR shield does not get hot, so I was just going to keep mine resting on the shield. Now you got me worried

Haha, no problem. I'm a "belt-and-suspenders" type of guy. I think I can put the GL heat shield on really quickly before I head out this afternoon. If not, then look for the guy with the $300 bag melted to his exhaust

Art was kind enough to offer me a ride up in the Ural.

With me in the machine gun chair, we ought to be there by ... Monday.

So, what time is the group thinking of leaving Whitehorse? I can make it up for a ride around on saturday, but don't have time for camping.

Is there a planned route to VT, or winging it?

I know some fun stuff in NH that heads west to VT (if I can find those tracks...)
