This airbox mod?
I am tearing my bike down for a water seal replacement (its toast) and other PM items to find this in my air box. I just got this bike so I am learning new things about it as I am tearing it down.
It appears the PO installed some sort of trap in the airbox. It looks like they put a piece of plexiglass in the lid to form a trap. I assume the first owner because the second owner did nothing to it other than oil and gas. Its obvious that this has trapped a lot of crap from the water seal destroying itself and there is no sign of sludge anywhere past the filter near this trap, in the upper right corner. Just curious if anyone has seen anything like this. I have searched these forums for quite some time and have never seen anything of the sort. ![]() This airbox mod? by Beergut, on Flickr

I suppose it keeps any emulsified coolant/oil from dripping into the front carb. Looks like it vents to the front...hope so.
I removed the vent from the airbox long ago, corked the box and and placed a simple filter on the hose to keep out boulders, alligators, ect...that eliminates the problem far easier... Forum peeps sometimes come up with all sorts of 'creative' mods. Best mod on this bike imo is to swap to a free flowing air filter and rejet btw, really wakes the thing up and eliminates fooling with that evil chunk '0 plastic airbox insanity. Cheers, you're gonna love this bike.

it does go to the front vent.
Are you referring to the rottweiler system? Maybe down the road.....for now, I want to experience the bike and get all of the PM stuff done. -and get a pair of FMF's on it. Coming from a KLR...there will be a bit of a learning curve to this bike.

So I guess for now...should I keep the plexiglass modification there?
