Moving to Houston area... Recommendations?
Hey all,
Moving to sugar land this july to do a year of job training, coming down from Montana where I am skiing 6 days a week. I heard the climate might be a little different, so I'm gonna have to find something else to do. I've got an itch to get a big dirt bike (xr650, ktm 640?) and go mob dirt roads on weekends. I ride quite a bit up in Montana in the summers, mostly just getting lost on dirt roads and trails. Grew up in Southern California riding ocotillo and baja area. What's the Moto scene like in this part of the country? Is this a feasible weekend thing down there? Thanks in advance, -graeme |

Expect flat, grade one dirt roads in the area where there are dirt roads. Most of what you will find is paved. There are a few ranches and parks where this is more challenging riding. There is very little public land for riding. Check with Texas Offroad network or Two Wheeled Texans for good local connections.

Meriden is sadly correct. But there IS riding to be had. Ya just have to travel a bit. www.twtex.com is an excellent place to make contacts and may I also suggest checking out "Houston Area Riders" a little lower on this page. We seem to be getting a good bit traction lately and who knows what mischief the future will bring us when we put our minds to it.
