Wing Mirrors - 1190R

Anyone know any GOOD quality (don't mention Acerbis!) wing mirrors that clamp on to the bars?

Thanks!

Cracking idea!

Thinking 1 ball stud base (for the one good thread on the right side that I have)

One clamp assembly (left side)

One long arm (already have 1)

2 mirrors….

Job done!

Thank you!

I just put Double Takes on my 950. Very happy with them. I was going to order original replacement 950 mirrors and found out that the 950 mirrors are no longer made . . . replaced by the 1190 mirrors that are much more expensive. Anyway, pix of the Double Takes with short clamps:

Hi Orangecicle!

That's EXACTLY what I'm thinking of doing (on the right side, left side socket thread has been stripped, hence the clamp).

Couple of questions?

1 - Do you know if there is any difference between UK and USA model threads?
2 - Also on my 1190, the OEM sockets have a Female to male adapter that changes the thread direction. Did the 950 have the same setup? (I think it was supposed to allow the mirrors to "snap" loose rather than break when you fall... it didn't work for me)

Thanks bud!

My recollection is that the threads on the mounts to the bars are the same. There's no difference on the parts fiche between US and EU in relation to mirrors. Yes, the 950 has an adjuster post before you screw on the mirror that I believe is a mix of straight threads and reverse threads to allow adjustment.

I screwed both RAM ball mounts into my bars without even thinking about it, and they were packaged together, so I'm pretty sure they are threaded the same. In that the 950 mirrors have been replaced with the 1190 mirrors, I would bet that the threads are the same between the two bikes. I think that the adjuster part that mounts to the bars is normal thread, but the actual mirror stalk is reverse thread. I would e-mail Double Take and ask them to be sure.

As to your stripped threads on one side, couldn't you just epoxy one of the Double Take RAM mount balls in place? Just a thought.

I would have to agree and bow to your much better knowledge on this!

And yes, you are totally correct, I could just epoxy it in... great idea! Just in case though, given the clamp is only 5 USD, I'll order that as a backup.

Again, thank you very much to both of you, should be a much better solution rather than having spend a fortune on a new OEM clutch mount.

First "mod" I made to my 1190 was to replace the mirrors with Doubletakes. I have them on all my bikes.
