Gravel Roads in Patagonia

Hello,

I am planning a trip next winter to Tierra Del Fuego and I am trying to figure out about how much gravel is impossible to avoid. I will be on a Vespa with 12 inch wheels, and I want to be as easy on the bike as possible until I reach TDF, so I need to plan a trip that has as little gravel as possible until I come back. Can anyone help me with this?

Lola

Follow the ruta 3 in Argentina. You'll have 80 miles of gravel in the trip.
That's the easy way.

Manolito,

Thank you very much. I have been told that the best way to go in order to avoid gravel is to cross over the Andes at Osorno and go down through Bariloche then cross the Pampa and get back on the coast down.

The routa 3 es etirely pavement. La Pampa is a very boring place to ride (and hot).
If you ride in the Andes, the landscape is going to be diferent and better.
