KTM 990 Dimensions?
Ktm 990 Adventure owners,
Could you measure your front panels and tank (front side of motorbike) for me? I have an old 640 Adventure, looking to put a decal kit on it. Unfortunently as my bike is discontinued I am looking at the 990 decal kits. Would be very helpful if I could get a better ideah on how they would fit my bike. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska.... impossible this time of year to track one down in person. Also does anyone know of a site which give good references to part exchanges between the older bikes? Example: 625 0r 640 duke pieces that fit the ktm 640 adventure. I am doing a complete re-build over the winter. Thank you, Ralph. |

j/k.. couldn't resist. If I recall, the tank graphics for the 640 are applied at the factory then clear coated.. going to be fun to remove. Also, I've owned both bikes, and they're shape and where the tank and shroud meet are totally different.. and the 640 has two big oval holes where as the 990 has a big triangular opening.. etc. You might be better off going custom. There's a vendor around here by the name of Crispy that does some pretty hot graphics.. he's in the UK, but maybe give him a shout. http://crispydesigns.co.uk/custom/ There are other graphically talented individuals on here as well.. maybe check the thumpers forum.. and/or the vendors forum.

miss the old school days
Obviously I know the bikes are different. Even the 640 has voids where the images are printed. I just wanted someone to tell me the dimensions in a rough estimate so I could figure out the proportions and size of the decals that come in specific pre made sets.
20 years ago "dual sport riders" were definently a different breed. Ralph. |

and 20 years ago, I had already been riding for 10 years, and there was no such thing as "dual sport riders". We rode plated thumper and 2smokers like XT's, IT's, PE's, XRL's and simply called them enduro bikes if anything so not sure what your point was good luck sir
