Advice on BMW 1200 gs Rally purchase
Well, I am thinking of purchasing 2012 Rally edition with 5000 miles for $15 000.00, no extra goodies just a bile. Basically I will be paying off the loan directly to BMW financing . Is this a good deal??? Thanks for any input.

Well, depends... I just got my 2012 Rallye for 16,900 brand new with BMW take down lights included so if I were you I'd negotiate...
How much time is left on the warranty and does it transfer to you? |

Two more years on warranty, transferable , this is a private party sale , so he does not want to negotiate, just pay off the loan.

It's up to you then! It's an awesome bike and personally I love the paint scheme. I don't know what the availability is for these on the west coast but out here they are pretty rare.
Good luck! Cheers, James |

I know there's a demo Rallye at the BMW Las Vegas dealer--it's on fleabay and available "locally" too. I bet they'd take reasonable offers. My best guess is you should be somewhere around $14,500 (TTL not inc), and if you can get one cheaper, all the better. |

Actually I think $15K is a fair price. I guess you can argue that at 5,000 miles you're going to need a new set of tires pretty soon, say $500. And the $300 6K service is coming up. At $14,600 you'd be splitting these costs.

Thanks for all the help , I think I'll explore options from dealers as well. Also Las Vegas is just a 4 hour ride and coming home with brand new bike will put a smile on my face all the way home!
I think you all are right, if the bike was 13k it would be a good deal. Thanks for all your replys!!!! |

My son and I just rented a couple GSs through Las Vegas BMW last week. I looked at the Rallye and considered riding it home to Pennsylvania. Tom wanted 16.9K and it had 2900mi on it but it was spotless. He will probably come down a little. I found a triple black with spoked wheels for 16K so I drove to NY and picked it up on Friday. Good luck in your search.

So I talked to BMW financing and interested rate which they offer is between 8.9%-17% which is pretty high so I don't think I'll go with them. Now I am looking for someone else to finance the bike with.
I am planning calling Vegas dealership tomorrow since they have three of the Rally edition bikes which I really like and we will see what deal they'll offer on the bike and financing as well. |

You should be able to find a GS that year those miles with luggage for that price. Luggage is expensive, try to get a bike that already has it. Don't know about a rally tho. Unless that paint job is super important to you then I would find one with the options you want.
Additionally I don't know what your Credit is and all that but recently I was able to get a loan on a used GS with 2300 miles on it through a car dealer that was selling it and I got 2% interest so I think BMW credit is raping people. By the way it was weird I belong to a very good credit union and even they couldn't beat the rate the dealer's guy could get me through their bank, so you just never know. |
