First off welcome to ADV!
Second, Build it and they will come...eventually! It may be slow at first but eventually someone will move it. I started the NWVA game close to three years ago and it's had it's busy times and it's slow times. It still has produced close to 100 tags a year. Not too bad. Local games are still better than riding 300 miles to grab the VA tag or any other tag when you don't have the time or there's not one close by.
Depending on how many inmates live near Roanake(one of my favorite cities BTW!) you may want to increase the playing area a bit. Hopefully you'll get some feedback in the next few days from local inmates.

Check out the first page of the regionals games, Valley DS tag, NWVA tag, NOVA tag, Panhandles tag, for ideas for rules. Couple of things, mascots rule, picture tags suck and breaking laws, placing tags in fee areas and places that close after dusk are generally frowned upon.

You could always set a tag at the base of the star for starters and see what happens. Also, make sure you take good pics of where you place the tag and stash it good. I'm sure you already have but go thru some pages of the other games to see how the games run to get a feel for it.

Sure a roanoke area tag game would be cool, lets start the fun!

I still prefer allowing file tags to place the tag instead of a mascot/no file tag allowed for local games.
but that appears to be a NC thing versus other places.
With a file tag, I can ride to the spot, grab the tag, then place the tag somewhere cool right away, instead of having to wait a day or so to place it somewhere cool, or just tagging the other side of the driveway to place it.

If someone comes a long later and takes a picture(tag) and has a smart phone they can bruce the player who grabbed it hours ago and may still be out "riding", setting a new tag. Not playing with their smart phone
As far as file photos, the whole point of tag games is to ride isn't it?.

So, where's the new tag?

Or someone snags the mascot, cause a kid finds it.
And then the game has an issue.

(I'm also still bitter at having to ride back up to Va in 35 degree rain to place a tag cause I forgot the no file tag rule)

Sorry for the confusion and delay (too much Thomas the Train? Good Grief!) PM's sent to all somewhat local participants of this thread. NC folks will catch on soon enough. Alright folks its on. I currently am in possession of the Rat and the 24 hour clock has started as of 10pm tonight. This thread may dissappear and start anew out of nowhere thanks to help from the cleanup crew, but it will be clean, and ready. Currently the Rat is enjoying warm accommodations on his last night at his birthplace. I've told him that it will be cold, dark, wet, lonely at times, and dangerous on the Road. He is far braver than I and ready to depart.
