Burned rubber smell

Hi guys, in my last rides (2015 GS WC), after stopping the bike there's a smell much like burned rubber coming from the exaust area near the rear mud guard, at least is where the smell is stronger. Have checked for signs of wear or wheel contact, but everything seems to be ok. The bike has 4000 km and have Anakee 3 tyres. Any ideas what's going on? Could it be rubber from the tyres?

I too smell a variety of smells as I return to my garage after a ride to a full hot engine. It seems the wheel throws up junk from the road which gets on the hot CAT (mandatory here in the USA) and creates the smell. My drive is about 650 feet from the road and is paved with asphalt and some loose gravel.

It is likely road stuff on your hot exhaust.

If yours was an oil head I would suggest checking the alternator belt too but I know little about the alternator belt configuration on the WC boxer.
