Not to take anything away from TWE's stuff, which is really tasty, but I have to say TT bashplate is the nicest I have seen.

The tour tech has plan generic thin mounts with rubber strips for mounting to the center stand. Ernie's is more durable. Wraps around the side of the stand, plus has four thick mounting straps with countersunk mounting bolts.
Sorry but it's not a closeup

If anyone can post some closer pics, I might try making my own from aircraft sheet metal. Is it held on with tie wraps?

it's held on by horseshoe shaped brackets with bolts going through the ends. if you want to copy look at post #2 link.
Ernie's is $10 more than the tourtech but is made way better, with the fastening and the holey end under the center muffler thingy. Yep Rob that's what they are prone to twisting and not very secure at all.

A previous GSPD I had a few years ago took a HUGE shunt while riding it in Baja. The Touratech centre stand bash plate took it right in the middle, took such a hit that it bent the actual centre stand. At that point, I knew that without it, I'd have cracked the engine or gearbox case. I just installed the TT engine belly plate/centre stand plate on my '91 GS. I've got no worries of the integrity of the TT stuff.
I've got Wunderlich stuff on my 1200GS, I can tell you that this stuff is a step up from all of them.

Centerstand skidplate
Hey guys,
Thank you very much for the plug. I'm a one man shop and it's greatly appreciated. The centerstand skidplate is on the way in the mail this morning. Enjoy the new bike toy. Post a picture when you get it installed. 2HE
