Open Flat Track Practice Day, Ukiah Ca. 3/3/13

THAT'S RIGHT!!!!!! OPEN FLAT TRACK PRACTICE DAY!!!!!!!! (weather allowing)

WHERE?- Ukiah Speedway Race Facility at the 1/8 Mile Banked Blue Grooved Track. Take the North State St. Exit and head south. Turn Left at Ford Rd. drive 1/4 mile. (the entrance for the old Ukiah MX Track).

WHEN?- Sunday March 3rd, 2013

WHAT TIME?- Gates Open at 9:00am. Practice starts at 11:00am. ends around 4:00pm.

HOW MUCH?- $25.00 per rider/ per class. Spectators $10

WHAT TIRES CAN I RUN?- It will be Class C Traction only. Basically what that means is No Knobbies Whatsoever! Other than that...Flat Track specific tires, or some sort of Smoother styled Dual sport tires should work.

WHAT KIND OF BIKE CAN I RIDE? - Anything goes, as long as the Kickstand has been removed. There will be big bike, as well as Pee Wee Classes, so anyone from Grandkids to Grandpa's can ride ( Grandma's too!)

IMPORTANT!!!!!! WHY SHOULD I GO?- because its fun (Duuuuhhhh?). Seriously though...We need a good turn out for this. The new race promoter for the speedway is very seriously considering doing a regular Flat Track Race Series, and this would be a good way to gauge not only attendance, but what (if any) changes should be made to the track to make sure that it is a safe racing facility.

This is a great opportunity to keep the rejuvenated growth of Flat Track Motorcycle Racing Going in the North Bay!!!!!!
Good for the Sport all Around! Please forward this email to anyone and everyone.

I'll be there rockin' the CRF150. That's right, the little bikes are the hot ticket on the short track, nearly as fast as the big bikes in the bull ring, but lots cheaper!

Looks like it'd make a good speedway track, though the barrier leaves things to be desired.

We had a great turnout and a lot of fun yesterday!

The track is ~1/8 mile and the banking made it kind of interesting. The track owner was really pleased and we've already scheduled another open practice date for Sunday February 3rd.
The barriers do leave a bit to be desired, but honestly they weren't too much of a concern given the reasonably modest speeds. There is talk of extending the track another ~25-30 feet in the near future though.

The flat track revival continues!

The next Ukiah practice day is scheduled for Sunday March 3rd.

The RACING schedule was finalized late last week!
That's right, there's going to be a 7-race series.

I'll post the dates, class structure, rules, etc... in a separate thread.

Please do!
Also may be worthwhile to cross post on other local forums to generate interest, I suspect there are quite a few other folks out there that would love to take advantage of this opportunity, now excuse me while I go look for some tires :)

Here's the thread I posted yesterday with all of the race series info:

Thanks for the forum suggestions Sean.
I already dropped the information into the BARF racer forum.
It's been years since I poked around SMJ but I'm pretty sure my account is still active there.

Would have helped if I had searched around the forum a little more to see your other thread
I'd strongly suggest cross posting on the dirtbike/sm forums on BARF and SBR since most of the folks that frequent those would probably be really in to trying out flat track.
I'm just afraid that posting in the racing section won't appeal to the folks who would really be in to this kind of fun.
Hope to see you out there!
