Please share. I called most everyone in Cycletrader and while they were in the listings they sold them a long time ago.

Driving (or flying) is not a problem.

Why the 990 and not the 690?

If you can find one I'd look for a 2010 990 Adv Rrrrrrrr. Higher ground clearance for riding Kenny style thru the bush!

Good question.

To get to any interesting dirt from my home base I'm looking at least 1 hr on pavement. I was thinking that maybe the 990 might be a better fit as long as I knew its limits.

I'm going to take my friends 690 for a weekend to see how it handles on extended runs on the pavement. Offroad I know there is no question. The 690 is better by leaps and bounds.

depends on use. i think the 690 is too in between the big little bikes (ktm 500/berg 570) and the 990.

i am very happy with my 990 after some tweaks, and most riding, save slow single track bits, i think the bike is phenominal. very happy with it.

re: your search... you expand the search area to 1k miles? check searchtempest?

Just curious, why are you excluding the Baja?

That comment was in context of the previous sentence. I meant it was leaps and bounds better offroad compared to the 990

For cycletrader I didn't have an area defined. Didn't do searchtempest/craigslist yet. Thanks

I'm not really interested in the tires, tank bank, rear bag, crash bars, etc that come on the bike. Don't really like the graphics either

Not a 2010 but close

And here

And also, this.

But I'm sure you've seen all of these.

Couple of good reasons to go used:
1) good chance the PO has already bought and installed the extra necessary pieces
2) done some of the common mods and had recalls and tech bulletins covered
3) insurance will be a bit cheaper on a bike not spankin' new
4) anything under 15k miles and the engine isn't even broken in yet
5) it's an LC8

I think the R is too tall for me... but I'd need to throw a leg over it to be sure.

The 690 is taller but it is so much lighter than I could deal with it
