State Farm-No motorcycle coverage in Mexico

Anyone else get a notice from State Farm:

GENERAL TERMS
1. Limited Coverage in Mexico
We have removed language from the "Where Coverage Applies" provision regarding coverage for travel into Mexico. this language has been replaced with a new "Limited Coverage in Mexico" provision, which applies to vehicles insured under the Car Policy except motorcycles. There will no longer be coverage for motorcycles driven in Mexico.

WTF?!? Until recently, I had not considered taking my bike though Mexico.

I think you need Mexican isurance as well, while traveling through or in Mexico...not sure how that claims process goes

that leaky old red and white tank of yours cant make it to WI and you are going to ride in in another country???????? thats funny!!!!

Just buy a Mexico-specific policy from a company like Mexadventure.

Your US policy, limited or not, is useless in Mexico anyways, from the standpoint of its validity in the eyes of their legal system.

From the standpoint of damage to your bike or total loss, US policies may or may not apply, depending upon how they're worded.

A Mexico specific policy will cover you under Mexico's Napoleonic Code style rule of law. In other words, you run over a kid in Guadalajara, your US policy is useless. A Mexico specific policy will bond you out of jail and provide you with an English speaking lawyer. Try to show the officiales your US policy, and you will languish in jail until the process runs its course.

Having had direct experience with State Farm, they probably wouldn't pay anyway.

Thanks for the info. I had the opportunity to help out as support crew in Baja last year. Didn't work out at the last minute, but the isurance issue was a concern as we were going to do some prerunning and have some fun while down there.
